Bio

Kotaro Yoshimura. M.D. is currently a professor and chairman of Department of Plastic and Regenerative Medicine at Jichi Medical University, Japan.

He received his medical degree and doctorate from University of Tokyo.

After returning from research work at University of Michigan, he worked for University of Tokyo and Jichi Medical University and directed his laboratory as an innovative surgeon-scientist.

His research interests cover skin/hair/scar biology, wound healing/angiogenesis, fat grafting/adipose stem cells, and regenerative medicine.

He published more than 200 original articles published in Pubmed-indexed journals.

He received a number of awards including the 38th Maliniac Lecturer in 2016 by American Society of Plastic Surgeons (ASPS).

Prof. Yoshimura has been a board director or president of many societies including ISPRES (International Society of Plastic Regenerative Surgeons), JSPRS (Japanese Society of Plastic Reconstructive Surgery), JSAPS (Japanese Society of Aesthetic Plastic Surgery) and IFATS (International Federation for Adipose Therapeutics and Science) and a national secretary of ISAPS (International Society of Aesthetic Plastic Surgery).

He is currently a secretary of Asian federation of Plastic, Reconstructive and Aesthetic Surgery Societies (APRAS).

He also worked as an associate editor of Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery (PRS) and PRS-Global Open (PRS-GO) for 6 years.
